Struvite Removal Wastewater Removal Egg Demo


Our Struvite Removal and Control Product is used primarily in wastewater applications, including both municipal and CAFO operations.

In this video you will notice an Egg is placed in enough Struvite Remover to keep it submerged. The pH of this product is approximately 0.5 but since it is a buffered acid, it has been proven to be:

Non-corrosive to steel
Only Slightly irritating to skin

Meaning, that despite its low pH, and being a great descaler, it is safe, as well as will not damage any equipment in your operation.

The egg in the video proves that it will remove and dissolve scale (egg shell), while not harming the protein (egg), leaving it fully intact and handling both the product and the egg with our bare hands.

Turnaround and Shutdown Decontamination Chemical Cleaner

Vapor Phase Application of JPX and JPX-E Chemical Cleaner

 

Vapor Phase Application of JPX and JPX-E

Preparatory:
            Obtain simplified process flow diagram review; with operations, the sequence and priority for equipment decontamination.  Mark up diagram to show JPX injection points and vent locations; show flow path for vapor cleaning through process vessels. 
            Prepare a layout page showing sequence and volumes of JPX (or JPX-E).  Time, temperature, results, and rinse columns will be completed as application proceeds.
Application:
Prior to pumping JPX, verify the following, by physically checking:
1)     Vessel is drained – Condensate not hydrocarbon coming from bottom drain connection.  Do not rely on control instrument levels.  They may be plugged or blocked in.
2)     Vessel is vented to relief system, sometimes called blowdown or vapor recovery system.
3)     JPX injection valves into vessel are open, and that only one flow path for JPX exists.
4)     Check and record vessel temperature.  Depending on system flow and vessel size, temperature should be over 200°F after a couple of hours of steaming.
5)     Check rinse line (reflux line) to be free of H.C. and hot via steam.
Begin pumping JPX into vessel:
Typically one drum per 20 minutes.  After pumping ½ of the calculated JPX required, re-check drain line, any top vent connection and reflux (rinse) line for JPX lemon odor to verify vaporization is adequate.  When completed, JPX injection continue steaming for several more hours; then have operations lower steam rates dropping vessel pressure and perform sniff for LEL, benzene, and H2S.  If vessel is a column, the overhead accumulator would have JPX injected immediately after column JPX injection and would be sniffed at the same time as column.
If sniff OK, start fresh water rinse, hot water is preferred.  Maximize flow of rinse & continue for several hours until bottom drain is clear of soap emulsion.  Caution, do not use accumulator water or reflux pump as water rinse source.  Accumulator may have sludge emulsion from JPX cleaning and could recontaminate column.
After:

Complete layout page info and discuss with operations.  Flush JPX pumps with water.  Remove empty JPX drums to location for later pick up.

Oil Refinery Chemical Cleaning with JPX and its Benefits

Why use JPX?

Vapor phase application of JPX saves at least one third of the preparation time for process equipment release to maintenance.  This “Best Practice” results in major cost savings in time and increased equipment cleanliness while minimizing environmental impact.
Whether de-gassing and cleaning an entire process unit or just a single piece of equipment, our high-performance chemistry transforms conventional cleaning and de-odorizing methods into a new source of cost-savings—minimizing mechanical cleaning and optimizing your budget.
Our process reduces plant downtime on turnarounds by three days or more by allowing for the decontamination of the entire unit at once and maintenance crews to enter the equipment faster.
The process reduces routine maintenance costs and enhances productivity and safety by reducing mechanical cleaning time, the associated exposure by maintenance personnel, and the time the equipment is out of service.

JPX is a highly effective vapor phase decontamination product, as it has a high solvency value and in vapor phase it can access surfaces and deposits that cannot be contacted by liquid flow.
JPX chemistry is pumped into the steam source. The steam carries the JPX chemistry throughout the process vessels. The solvent in the product partially vaporizes, dissolving the hydrocarbons as it traverses the vessel. The surfactants in JPX form an emulsion with the hydrocarbons and the condensed steam. This emulsion is then drained from the process vessels as the vessels are steamed.  The lighter hydrocarbons are swept from the vessel to the flare.  After the steam is discontinued the vessel is rinsed to cool down and prepare for entry.


JPX is environmentally safe, biodegradable, and compatible to all metallurgy. It is a water based blend of surface-active chemicals with a highly effective solvent. The surfactants and the solvent in JPX are exceptionally effective in removing heavy-end hydrocarbons such as vacuum residue and asphalt, as well as light end hydrocarbons such as benzene, from the process vessels in refineries and petrochemical plants.

JPX Fin-Fan Cleaning Video



Here is a video of JPX-F in action!


JPX-F is a specially formulated version of JPX to be used for foaming applications in fin-fan and area maintenance cleaning. It is designed to create copious amounts of foam containing powerful chelating agents. We utilize the HVHC Foamer by Lafferty Equipment in our foaming applications. You can see a demo of the foaming application process here. JPX-F is especially good for removing sticky hydro carbon materials found in refineries. Some of our customers have experienced a 40-degree improvement with an average of about 20 to 30 degrees. By utilizing JPX-F and our innovative cleaning system refineries have enjoyed the following:
  • Cleaning of the tube exteriors while not requiring entry into the shrouds
  • No damage to tubes by personnel entering the shrouds and walking on the aluminum tubes.
  • No damage by improper use of high pressure water, which can bend the aluminum fins.
  • Deep cleaning of the interiors of the tube banks that cannot be done with a water wash.
  • The effluent rinse is not harmful to the Effluent Treatment Plant or Biodigester.
